Attendance and Punctuality

At City Road, we know the impact regular attendance has on your child’s learning and well-being; and that having good attendance is directly linked to raising achievement and developing skills for life and work.

Punctuality Matters!

It is important to be on time at the start of each day. The start of school is used to give out instructions or organise work. If your child is late they can miss work, time with their class teacher getting vital information, cause disruption to the lesson for others, and it can be upsetting for them leading to possible further absence.

School starts promptly see below times.

School gates and classroom doors open at 8.45am (Nursery-Y6)

Late arrivals report to the school office.

Arrival after 9.25am is recorded as late - after register has closed and is regarded as unauthorised absence.

Breakfast Club

Paid breakfast club : 7:45am  - 8:45am       £10 per week

Free breakfast club : 8:15am  - 8:45am (limited places) - the form is closed and parents will have been notified by text message whether they have a place for their children.

School Uniform and PE Kits

A gentle reminder that all children MUST come into school with the correct PE kits and school uniform.

School Uniform                                                          PE kit

Please help us to help the children to look after their own property by ensuring that all PE kit and uniform is clearly marked with each child’s name and class.

All foot wear should be BLACK school shoes and BLACK trainers for PE.

Educational Visits

Y1 visit to The Black Country Museum

Children saw Victorian homes, shops, a school and a cinema.

Y5 visit to Think Tank

Year 5 went to the Think Tank Museum where they learnt more about their science topic Space. The children had a fantastic day and learnt lots of amazing new facts.

Y6 visit to the Gurdawara

Year 6 visited the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Smethwick. The children had a fantastic time learning about the Sikh religion as we were given a tour of this beautiful place of worship.

Y2  DT Topic Day

Year 2 children made snowploughs. Children looked at designing and looking at a product and what it is used for. Children explored mechanisms and used axles and wheels to make their structures move.

Football Tournament

City Road Primary School were invited to play at Aston Villa Football club's newly formed inner-city academy.

Our year 6 children took part in a football tournament.

City Road Primary School's Year 6 children managed to win 2 games, draw 2 games, and lose 1 game by a narrow 1-0 scoreline. In total, they only conceded two goals in the whole tournament. They played at a high level, encouraged each other, and showed excellent behaviour throughout.

This has led to City Road Primary School qualifying for the next phase, which is the Premier League Primary Stars Grand Final tournament. The winner of this tournament will represent Aston Villa Football Club in the National finals.

Well done! You should be proud of yourselves!

Science Afternoon -8th March-The theme for 2024 is ’Time’!
